Our consulting for companies operating globally

Our team at Global Employer Services (GES) can support you in planning and in successfully implementing your international secondment program. In order to take your needs and requirements optimally into consideration and to be able to offer you tailor-made solutions, our team of experts works together with the leaders of your global mobility programmes as well as with individuals being seconded or with employees who are already working abroad or have a cross-border job.

With our having access to an international and interdisciplinary network, we are in a very good position to support your organisation, to coordinate your mobility programme and to ensure that all global tax obligations are fulfilled cost efficiently. 

We offer a wide range of mobility services that cover the needs of your companies at two levels:

  • Satisfied employees
    We support seconded employees during their entire international assignment – from the planning stage to sending them up to and including successfully reintegrating them back into your company – in various areas such as calculating current and forecast tax burdens based on the terms of the secondments, consulting on how income is taxed domestically and abroad, preparing tax returns, etc.
  • Managing the secondment programme
    Our Global Employer Services plans and manages your international secondment programme at all stages – from introducing such a programme up to and including making changes and adjustments that may have to made in order to maintain the competitiveness of the programme, considering international taxation and issues and other aspects and ongoingly coordinating the programme with your company’s development and requirements.

 

Our services for your seconded employees:

  • Advising your employees seconded by our GES team before and after being sent in order to inform them about the taxes and social insurance system of the host country and to explain the tax effects of the secondment on their situation in their home country as well as on that in  the host country
  • Advising employees seconded on tax planning measures for optimally planning their personal situation
  • Giving support on obtaining the tax identification number for the host country
  • Registering the employer as a taxpayer of an employee and communicating with the tax authorities in the host country
  • Preparing income tax returns for the home and host countries for your employees seconded during the entire secondment
  • Calculating the expected actual and/or hypothetical tax burdens of the employees as well as their net salaries
  • Performing tax equalisation/tax protection calculations
  • Preparing forms involving taxes withheld in order to avoid or to reduce any tax burdens on taxes withheld
  • Conducting personal tax consulting meetings with your employees (exit/entrance meetings)
  • Global tax planning for the time period after an employee has completed a secondment
  • Consulting on how to set up the individual remuneration components such as salary splits, severance pay and stock options


Our services for managing your global mobility:

  • Supporting the planning and design of international assignments and secondments for your employees in order to particularly mitigate tax and social insurance risks
  • Calculating the cost of secondments, including tax expenses in the home and host countries, preparing a company budget
  • Planning for taxes and social insurance contributions in order to minimise the extra (tax) expenses that each secondment incurs within the framework of Global Employer Services
  • Providing support in dealing with the requirements of social insurance laws and applying for secondment certificates for social insurance purposes (A1 or other)
  • Consulting on how to optimally design the various remuneration components
  • Preparing pay slips involving international assignments, including splitting income between the home and host countries
  • Preparing and reviewing tax protection or tax equalisation calculations as well as their implementation
  • Assessing (payroll) tax implications for existing and planned cross-border employee assignments
